Dr. Uchenna Chukwurah

Dr. Chukwurah, also known as "Dr. Chess", sees patients in our Albuquerque office. Dr. Chess obtained his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine at Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and completed his 3 year Podiatric Surgery Residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan, where he was a Chief Surgical Resident.  He has received comprehensive training in adult and pediatric foot and ankle traumatology with added credentialing in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery including, but not limited to, diabetic limb salvage, sports related injuries and procedures specific for bunion and flatfoot deformities.  He has extensive training in both internal and external fixation, arthroscopic and endoscopic foot and ankle techniques, and is certified in basic and advanced microsurgery.

Dr. Chess was born and raised in Aba, Imo State, Nigeria. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 with a goal of obtaining quality educaion and fulfilling his dream of becoming a physician. He received his degree in Microbiology in Utah where he was on the Dean's list. He had the privilege of being a member of the nationally renowned Brigham Young University.

Dr. Chess brings with him an excitement for life and a desire to work with patients to resolve all foot and ankle concerns and ailments.  He is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) and enjoys staying up to date on the latest research on foot and ankle surgical techniques.  He enjoys lifting weights, road cycling, singing, opera, playing the piano, teaching in church, and above all spending time with his family.
