Dr. Alexander B. Jenks

Dr. Alexander Jenks is an Albuquerque native who is passionate about treating our community's foot and ankle conditions.  He specializes in sports medicine, deformity reconstruction, trauma repair, diabetic wound prevention, as well as treating general foot and ankle ailments.  He sees both adult and pediatric patients, and welcomes all level of concerns from ingrown nails, heel pain, ankle sprains, to the most challenging podiatric issues.  He is Board Certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. Jenks utilizes an individual approach to care tailored to the specific needs of the patient.  He is a strong believer in conservative treatment options before considering surgery.  After his own ankle injury, which spurred his interest in medicine many years ago, he appreciated the power of the physician-patient relationship, communication, and proper education to aid in the healing process.  He applies these same principles daily in his patient interactions.

His peer-reviewed scientific research has been published in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery as well as the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association.  Given the opportunity to educate, he has lectured national audiences on subjects including juvenile bunions, ankle instability, adult-acquired flatfeet, and several other podiatric disorders.  Dr. Jenks firmly believes in giving back, and has volunteered his medical skills in underprivileged communities through international medical mission trips, volunteer clinics, and health fairs.

Dr. Jenks earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona and graduated in the top ten of his class with honors from the Pi Delta National Honor Society.  Dr. Jenks went on to complete the preeminent West Houston Medical Center reconstructive foot and ankle surgical residency in Houston, Texas.  There, he trained under the direction of seventy renowned foot and ankle specialists, as well as over forty distinguished physicians in other disciplines, including orthopedics, vascular surgery, and plastic surgery.

Prior to his medical education, Dr. Jenks graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Science in biology (go Lobos!).   When he is not serving patients, you can find him hiking the Sandias, exploring all that our great state has to offer, as well as enjoying the company of his family, friends, and the family yellow Labrador Retriever Tanner.
