Dr. Uchenna Chukwurah

Dr. Chukwurah, also known as "Dr. Chess", sees patients in our Albuquerque office. Dr. Chess obtained his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine at Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and completed his Surgical Residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan, where he was a Chief Surgical Resident.  He has received comprehensive training in adult and pediatric foot and ankle traumatology with added credentialing in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery including, but not limited to, diabetic limb salvage, sports related injuries and procedures specific for bunion and flatfoot deformities.  He has extensive training in both internal and external fixation, arthroscopic and endoscopic foot and ankle techniques, and is certified in basic and advanced microsurgery. Dr. Chess is a Board Certified Foot and Ankle Surgeon and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Dr. Chess was born and raised in Nigeria. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 with a goal of obtaining quality educaion and fulfilling his dream of becoming a physician. He received his degree in Microbiology at Brigham Young University where he was on the Dean's list.

Dr. Chess brings with him an excitement for life and a desire to work with patients to resolve all foot and ankle concerns and ailments.  He enjoys staying up to date on the latest research on foot and ankle surgical techniques.  He enjoys lifting weights, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, competitive cycling, body building competitions and is a member of the National Physique Committee (NPC). He was also a member of the Utah Opera Company and still enjoys solo performances. He enjoys playing the piano and teaching in church. Above all, he enjoys spending time with his family.
